Educational Philosophy

Marion Academy's PreK-12th grade school is a college preparatory school offering a quality education in an environment where students are protected, nurtured, and challenged with Christian principles that promote the development of the total person.

Central to the success of Marion Academy and its mission are the Christian principles and Biblical worldview upon which Marion Academy was founded. On this foundation, the Board of Directors, administration, and faculty strive to implement a total educational process that reflects the mission and glorifies God.

At Marion Academy, we use the Bible as our foundation and standard of Truth in every subject in a student's day. God's goodness is not confined to a Bible class, but woven into everything we do. Our students are rooted in Scripture, prepared to be life-long learners, and equipped to use their God-given talents.

Classical Christian education teaches God's truth and cultivates thinking, articulates students who are able to reason well, work hard, and communicate clearly and persuasively. Classical Christian students learn differently - by asking questions, reading original texts, and using logic to reach educated conclusions.

A Classical Christian education also helps students link subjects together. Although your child's day will be divided into subject-based classes, classical teachers make clear connections between the Bible and history, history and art, art and philosophy, philosophy and culture, culture and the sciences, and so on. Your child will learn the "big ideas" that have been proposed throughout history and see not only how they have influenced our culture, but how to view them in light of God's Word and beauty.
